I saw an advertisement in the Sunday paper for the movie Avatar coming out later this week on DVD. It reminded me that the font
Papyrus
from
Letraset
is used in the movie for the subtitles.
Papyrus
is one of those fonts whose popularity is enduring and seems to make many people happy and others quite critical of its overuse. What is it about Papyrus that makes it so popular? Is it because of its crusty, distressed letterforms? Its friendly appearance? Or its wide availability on Mac & Windows systems?
