Albertina Font > Albertina Medium Italic Font
Albertina™ Medium Italic in the early sixties, Dutch type designer Chris Brand set out to create a text typeface based on calligraphic principles. A gifted lettering artist, Brand spent several years crafting the lovely Albertina™ types. The family drew its regal name from its first major outing: Albertina Medium Italic was used in a catalog for the 1966 exhibition of Stanley Morison™s work at Belgium™s Royal National Library in Brussels (affectionately dubbed the Albertina). In 1987, another talented Nederlander, Frank E. Blokland, reworked Albertina Medium Italic and brought it into the digital age. No longer hindered by the limitations of metal and phototype, Blokland went back to the original drawings to create a faithful rendition of Brand™s concept. Albertina™s forms are precisely drawn but retain the warmth of the artist™s hand. The family works exceptionally well at small sizes, and reveals its particular charms beautifully in display settings. Character Set: Latin-1
