The glorious Bulmer™ Display Italic typeface was first created for Nonesuch Press in the early 1930s. After a period of private use, Bulmer Display Italic was released to the public in 1939. Bulmer Display Italic was based on the types of William Martin from the late eighteenth century. Martin, a British typefounder and punchcutter trained by John Baskerville, supplied designs to William Bulmer and other prestigious printers. Bulmer Display Italic is slightly narrower and appears taller than Baskerville's namesake typeface. Touches of the Modern style found in Bodoni are glimpsed in Bulmer, but the design's Old Style pedigree takes charge. The experts at the Monotype Type Drawing Office created the digital version of Bulmer Display Italic after carefully studying the metal versions and reviewing Bulmer's printed materials. Monotype also added weights and expert sets to complement the existing faces. Bulmer is ideal for traditional text uses such as book and magazine typography, and for more formal applications like wedding invitations. Character Set: Latin-1
