Clarion Italic
Part of Clarion Family (3 fonts)
Clarion™ Italic, a text face by British designer Robin Nicholas, was developed in the 1980s for use by newspapers. Based on Nimrod, another of Nicholas' typeface designs for publications, Clarion Italic is an Ionic form of slab serif. The Ionic style heavily influenced many contemporary news type designers - large x-heights and strong, clean lines are characteristic of such types. Clarion's neutral appearance and high degree of readability at small sizes make it the perfect choice for text typography, particularly in those cases where legibility is critical.
