Ehrhardt Font > Ehrhardt Italic Font
Ehrhardt™ Italic was modeled on the Dutch-style types appearing in specimen pages from Leipzig's Ehrhardt foundry, circa 1720. Some historians credit these designs to seventeenth-century Hungarian punchcutter Nicolas (Mikl¢s) Kis, who studied in Amsterdam under Dutch punchcutter Dirck Voskens around 1680. Directed by Stanley Morison in 1937, the Monotype Type Drawing Office developed its own version of these sturdy types, dubbed Ehrhardt in honor of the German foundry. Ehrhardt Italic is a solid, economical book face with a vigorous character, and makes an inspired choice for contemporary, readable text typography. Character Set: Latin-1
