Modern Font > Modern Wide Italic Font

Modern™ Wide Italic was created at the turn of the twentieth century by the Monotype Type Drawing Office. Modern™ Wide Italic was based on News 23 and 28, the newspaper faces developed in the 1890s by Edinburgh's Miller & Richards foundry. A rounded, open design with flowing italics, Modern Wide Italic is warm and inviting, with great attention given to its contrasting fine hairlines and generous but delicate serifs. An outstanding example of the Modern style of type design - incredibly popular in America and Great Britain at the time - this particular cut of Modern is an elegant and subtle variation on the theme. Gorgeous in text settings, Modern's darker and condensed versions are absolutely stunning in display typography. Character Set: Latin-1
