The Felt Tip font family was designed by Mark Simonson. Felt Tip is a popular family that has expanded over the years. Felt Tip Roman began as an experiment in 1989 as an adaptation of Mark’s handwriting. New weights and styles have been added to broaden the usefulness of friendly and playful set of fonts.

As Mark Simonson designer said, Felt Tip is one of most popular fonts, and can be seen in both ads for Marriott hotels, posters for the film Memento, in Alamo Car Rental ads, and almost everywhere else. The Felt Tip fonts also arouse interest from children’s book publishers, and it looked cool when used as Hagrid’s handwriting in the Harry Potter book series.

Felt Tip Roman was based on the designer’s own handwriting, carefully digitized by hand. At the time the first Felt Tip font was developed it was a rare case, though handwriting is very common now.
