The Franklin Gothic font name was selected by Morris Fuller Benton to honor the famous American printer, inventor and statesmen Benjamin Franklin. Originally Franklin Gothic was a simple display advertising font. Additional weights and styles were designed in the early 1900’s.
Over time the Franklin Gothic font family has grown to include a wide variety of weights and styles, and its popularity also grew. Today the Franklin Gothic font family can be found in publications, in corporate branding, on product packaging and in movie titles and album covers.
