Using the "Insert Symbol" feature in Microsoft Word to access special characters
Some fonts have special characters which are not easily accessible from the keyboard. Here is an example of how the “Insert Symbol” feature in Microsoft Word can be used to access hard-to-find characters.
From the toobar select the “Insert” tab, then on the far right select “Symbol”. In Word 2007, select “More Symbols.”
If the symbol or character is specific to a certain font, change the selected Font. Then scroll down and find the desired symbol. Double-click on a symbol to insert it into your Word document.
